SRL students have been taking part in the 28 day Kindness Challenge. What is this? The Kindness Challenge increases positive behaviors at school, encourages respect for others, promotes responsible decision-making, and creates a positive and supportive environment among classmates. The children are expected to perform several random acts of kindness daily. Examples include giving someone a compliment, being a problem solver, helping a fellow classmate out, sharing something with another student, inviting someone to play with you, praising a fellow classmate for doing a good job, offering to help clean up, and doing something nice for a teacher.  Students in 3A tackled the challenge and received certificates of achievement. Congratulations and keep the kindness coming.

We were recently visited by the Sisters of the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, as well as, Sr. Helen, IHM Sister and former teacher of St. Rose of Lima. The SPHJM Sisters were on campus to guide our 8th grade retreat, which was deeply meaningful for out 8th graders...a moment they will never forget! Sr. Helen was invited to receive a donation check, from recent monies raised by our Student Council, to support the IHM Sisters. We were blessed to have Sr. Helen lead us in an opening prayer during morning assembly. The Catholic identity of St. Rose of Lima is thriving!

SRL hosted the Archdiocese of Miami Professional Development Day for 275+ Miami-Dade Catholic school teachers. It was wonderful to collaborate with each other as we explored innovative and research-based methods to further differentiate our instruction for all learners. Thank you to our many colleagues for visiting! Catholic education is flourishing in the Archdiocese of Miami!

As of February 10th, over 98% of our families were fully re-enrolled for the 2018-19 school year! What's equally exciting to share is that our retention rate is holding steady at 99% and 60+ families have toured SRL over the past few weeks! Thank you for everyone's renewed commitment and trust in our parish and school! Go Cardinals!

Congratulations to our 8th grade class on their recent high school acceptances! We are pleased to share that 20% of our 8th graders scored in the 90th percentile or higher on their High School Placement Test (HSPT). Among this group, five students were recognized at St. Thomas Aquinas High School this week for being among their highest scorers. SRL is a "good place to grow!"
